Privacy Policy
Upkeep is a life counter for tabletop card games. It is built to work without accounts, servers or the internet, and this policy explains what that means for your data.
What we collect
Nothing. The Upkeep app does not create accounts, does not send data to us or to any third party, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking.
What stays on your device
- Settings such as your preferred board arrangement and starting life total.
- A saved list of player names you have typed before, so you can reuse them. You can remove names from this list in the app.
This information is stored locally by iOS and is removed if you delete the app.
What is shared during a game
When devices play together, they talk directly to each other over your local Wi-Fi network. Nothing goes through the internet. During a game, a joining device sends the host:
- the device's name (as set in iOS Settings), so the host can show who has joined;
- changes to the game, such as life totals, counters, commander damage and player names.
The host sends the current game state back to every joined device. This game data exists only while the game is running and is not stored by us.
Connections between devices are not encrypted. Anyone with access to the same Wi-Fi network could in principle observe game data, which is limited to the items above. For that reason we recommend playing on a network you trust.
Permissions
- Local Network: lets Upkeep connect to other devices at the table. It is used only for game sync.
- Camera: used only to scan a join QR code. Images are not saved or sent anywhere.
This website
This website is hosted by a third-party provider, which may keep standard server logs such as IP addresses and page requests for security and operations. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this site.
Children
Upkeep does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. If the app ever starts collecting data, this policy will change first.
